چکیده

The textbook view of the liquid electrolyte surfaces as being devoid of ions have recently been challenged by molecular dynamics simulations, which predict a surface enhancement of highly polarizable anions. Here we present the first direct experimental verification of this prediction. Enhanced azide ðN 3 Þ concentrations were measured at the liquid surface by femtosecond second harmonic generation (SHG) experiments exploiting the charge-transfer-to-solvent (CTTS) resonance of N 3 , yielding a surface excess free energy of 9.9 ± 0.3 kJ/mole. Such surface-enhanced concentrations of anions could have important consequences for the chemical reactions taking place on atmospheric aerosols and at the ocean-air interface. 2004 Elsevier B.V. Ionic Liquid Based Dispersive Liquid Liquid Microextraction and Enhanced Determination of the Palladium in Water, Soil and Vegetable Samples by FAAS

In this study, we combined Ionic Liquid-based Dispersive Liquid Liquid Micro Extraction (IL-DLLME) with FAAS for determining the palladium in different real samples at the trace level. 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate [Hmim][PF6] ionic liquid and 1-(2-pyridylazo) 2-naphthol (PAN), were chosen as the extraction solvent and the chelating agent, respectively. The hydr...

PES/Quaternized-PES Blend Anion Exchange Membranes: Investigation of Polymer Compatibility and Properties of the Blend

Polyethersulfone (PES)-based anion exchange blend membranes were prepared from quaternized-PES (Q-PES) and N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) casting solutions with water as coagulant via non-solvent induced phase inversion. The compatibility of the blend system was investigated through thermodynamic studies while membrane formation was determined using the cloud point techni...

Polyvinylidene Fluoride Hollow Fiber Membrane Contactor Incorporating Surface Modifying Macromolecule for Carbon Dioxide Stripping from Water

Porous surface modified polyvinylidene ï‌‚uoride (PVDF) hollow fiber membranes are fabricated through a dry-wet phased inversion process. Surface modifying macromolecules (SMM) (1 wt. %) are used as additives in the spinning dope. The performance of the surface modified membrane in contactor application for CO2 stripping from water is assessed through the fabricated gas–liquid membrane contacto...
